Helping Charlton Kings senior citizens to remain independent

Charlton Kings Senior Citizens’ Welfare Committee provides support to the senior citizens of Charlton Kings with the aim of helping them to stay in their own homes and enjoy an improved quality of life. Those without means of transport can request to be put on a list and taken to a supermarket on our minibus with Passenger Assistants on hand to assist with packing and carrying shopping if necessary. This is a popular door-to-door service currently running morning and afternoon shifts on Wednesdays and fortnightly on Friday mornings. CKSCWC Lunch Club meets on Thursdays, and ‘Afternoon Tea’ on Monday afternoons. Transport to the clubs can be provided by the minibus, which can take wheelchair passengers too. Transport may be provided for other occasional special events, such as local Christmas shows and outings.

The committee has been supporting Charlton Kings senior citizens for over 70 years.  There are no paid employees, all of our exceptional members, drivers and helpers etc., are volunteers.
